The mitochondrial genome of Atrocalopteryx melli Ris, 1912 (Zygoptera: Calopterygidae) via Ion Torrent PGM NGS sequencing

Abstract: The mitochondrial genome of Atrocalopteryx melli was sequenced and assembled via Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and iteratively assembly process with a reference seed. This genome is 15,562 bp long and A þ T biased (71%), with 37 genes arranged in common order of Odonata. All protein-coding genes are initiated by typical "ATN" codon, and 9 genes are terminated with a complete stop codon, except nad4, nad5, cox2, and cox3, which are terminated with an incomplete codon "T(aa)". The S5 intergenic spacer is abse… Show more

“…Genomic DNA was sequenced using a next-generation method. The assembly and annotation procedure followed Xu et al (2018) with the COI sequence of P. tunguidus as seed. The mitochondrial genome was annotated with the MITOS WebServer (Bernt et al 2013) and verify via BLAST (Altschul et al 1990).…”

“…Thousands of individuals were collected and preserved in À80 C. Genomic DNA was extracted using the TIANamp Marine Animals DNA Kit (TIANGEN BIOTECH CO., LTD (Beijing, China) and sequenced using a next-generation method on Illumina platform HiSeq 2500. The assembly and annotation procedure followed Xu et al (2018) with the COI sequence of D. excisum as the seed. The assembled sequence was annotated in MITOS WebServer (Bernt et al 2013).…”

“…The assembly and annotation procedure followed Xu et al. ( 2017 ) with COI sequence of Diaphanosoma dubium (AB549201) as seed. COI of four other Diaphanosoma species ( D. excisum , D. orghidani , D. brachyurum and D. mongolianum ) were amplified with 2 pairs of primers: LCO1490 and HCO2198 (Vrijenhoek 1994 ), CrustF (Costa et al.…”
