The mitochondrial genome of Murina huttoni rubella (Chiroptera: Vespertilionidae) from China

Abstract: Murina huttoni rubella is a common Murina species in China, with a medium forearm length and reddish brown hairs. In this study, based on a male M. h. rubella individual from Jiangxi, China, its complete mitochondrial genome was sequenced and analyzed. The genome is 16,707 bp in length, including 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes, 13 protein-coding genes and a control region. The composition and arrangement of genes are similar to other bats. Phylogenetic tr… Show more

“…The total length of the mitochondrial genome is 16,463 bp. It encodes 13 protein-coding genes, two rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes, and a control region, the same pattern as in the other three Murina mitochondrial genomes (Yoon et al 2013;Yoon and Park 2016;Zhang et al 2016). All the protein-coding genes (total 11,399 bp) were encoded in the H-strand except for ND6 in L-strand.…”

“…However, we note that this mitogenome sequence has already been used (i) for phylogeny reconstruction, either as ingroup (e.g. Qian et al 2016;Yu et al 2016;Zhang et al 2016;L opez-Wilchis et al 2017) or outgroup (e.g. Platt et al 2018), (ii) for primer design (Yoon et al 2016), and (iii) in a reference database for DNA screening of Finnish stone age sediments (Peltola 2019).…”

“…At the time of publication, only few bat mitogenomes had become available and even today this is still the only mitogenome purportedly of this species. As a result, KF111725 or NC_022474 have been re-used in at least 17 phylogenies (Hwang et al 2016;Locatelli et al 2016;Monadjem et al 2016;Qian et al 2016;Yu et al 2016;Zhang et al 2016;Jebb, Foley, Kerth, et al 2017;Jebb, Floey, Puechmaille, et al 2017;L opez-Wilchis et al 2017;Mata et al 2017;Shi et al 2017;Platt et al 2018;Huang et al 2019;Yue et al 2019;Tang et al 2020).…”

“…Published mitochondrial genome of M. ussuriensis (Yoon et al 2013), M. leucogaster (Yoon and Park 2016), M. huttoni (Zhang et al 2016), M. shuipuensis (Huang et al 2019) and M. cyclotis were used to annotate the mitochondrial genome of H. harpia. The complete mitochondrial genome is 16,400 bp in length, containing 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and 1 control region.…”
