The mitochondrial genome of the goosander (Mergus merganser) determined using next-generation sequencing

Abstract: We report here the complete mitochondrial genome of Mergus merganser, which was determined using Illumina next-generation sequencing. The complete mitogenome is 16,631 bp, with 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, and 2 ribosomal RNA genes. The order and structure of the genes are similar to those of other Anatinae species.
