The modified polythiophene‐Cu NPs composites for Pb(II) ions removal from aqueous solution

Abstract: The present work describes the use of chemically modified polythiophene with copper nanoparticles and polyvinylpyrolidine‐sulfonic acid (PTh‐PVP‐SA‐Cu) as an adsorbent for the removal of Pb(II) ions from aqueous solution. The synthesized composite, PTh‐PVP‐SACu, was characterized by different techniques including Fourier‐transform infrared spectrometer, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDX), transmission electron microscopy, X‐ray powder diffraction, thermogravimetric analysi… Show more

“…The pH effect results were supported by zeta potential studies of PTP/PR nanocomposite over a pH scan Figure 8B. From the zeta potential studies, the pH corresponding to point of zero charge (pHpzc) of pristine PTP 58 and PTP/PR nanocomposite were calculated to be 4.3 and 3.79 respectively. PTP/PR nanocomposite has a point of zero charge (pHpzc) at pH of 3.79 which also marks its transient pH.…”
