Summary
In controlled experiments with male fattening calves a study was made of the histological changes in the genital tract induced by oestrogen administration. The testes, epididymes, ampullae of the ductus deferens, seminal vesicles, prostate, bulbourethral glands and urethra were examined. Various dosages (20–160 mg. per animal) of diethylstilboestrol, hexoestrol, dienoestrol and oestradiolmonobenzoate were used. Two types of changes were found: epithelial changes and changes in the mesenchyme. The epithelial changes consisted of hyperplasia and squamous metaplasia of the prostate, the bulbourethral glands and the urethra and retardation in the development of the glandular tissue of the ampullae of the ductus deferens, seminal vesicles and epididymes. In the testes retardation in the development of the seminiferous tubules and the interstitial cells was noted. In all organs of the accessory genital system fibrosis and hypertrophy of the smooth muscles were found. The possible action of oestrogens is discussed.

Oestrogeninduzierte Veränderungen im Geschlechtsapparat des männlichen Kalbes
Die histologischen Veränderungen am Geschlechtsapparat von männlichen Mastkälbern nach Oestrogengaben werden beschrieben. Untersucht wurden: Hoden, Nebenhoden, Samenleiterampulle, Samenblase, Prostata, Bulbourethraldrüsen und Harnröhre. Die Tiere erhielten 20 bis 160 mg Diethylstilboestrol, Hexoestrol, Dienoestrol und Oextradiolmonobenzoat. Histologische Veränderungen ließen sich im Epithel und im Mesenchym feststellen.
Veränderungen im Epithel: Hyperplasie und squamöse Metaplasie der Prostata und der Harnröhre, verzögerte Entwicklung des Drüsengewebes der Samenleiterampulle, der Samenblase und des Nebenhodens, verzögerte Entwicklung der Hodenkanälchen und der Zwischenzellen.
Alle akzessorischen Geschlechtsdrüsen zeigten eine Fibrose und eine Hypertrophie der glatten Muskulatur.

Modifications du tractus génital induites par les oestrogènes chez le veau mâle
On décrit les modifications histologiques du tractus génital de veaux mâles à l'engrais après administration d'oestrogènes.
On examine: le testicule, l'épididyme, l'ampoule du canal déférent, la vésicule sémianle, la prostate, les glandes bulbo‐urétrales et l'urètre. Les animaux ont reçu 20 à 160 mg de diéthyl‐stilboestrol, hexoestrol, diènoestrol et monobenzoate d'oestradiol.
On met en évidence des modifications histologiques dans l'épithélium et dans le mésenchyme.
Les modifications de l'épithélium consistent en une hyperplasie et une métaplasie squameuse de la prostate, des glandes bulbo‐urétrales et de l'urètre, un retard dans le développement du tissue glandulaire de l'ampoule du canal déférent, de la vésicule séminale et de l'épididyme, un retard du développement des canalicules séminifères et des cellules interstitiellles.
Dans toutes les glandes sexuelles secondaires, on observe une fibrose et une hypertrophie de la musculature lisse.
