“…Ten evaluated interventions (67% of all interventions) reported data about the impact on associated nondrug outcomes such as property, violence, and disorderrelated offenses, CFS, or other problems. Five studies provided evidence of effectiveness (Byxbe & Carlan, 2001;Child and Family Policy Center, 1999;Minneapolis Police Department, 1999;Stevens, 2001;Walsh, Vito, Tewksbury, & Wilson, 2000), 27 one showed no impact (Koper, 1993), 28 one study reported that the intervention was ineffective (Josi et al, 2000), 29 and three reported mixed findings, where there was an immediate effect that decayed over time (Popkin et al, 1999), there was an increase in some outcomes but reductions in others (McElroy, Cosgrove, & Sadd, 1990), or the results were difficult to interpret (Giacomazzi, 1995;Thurman et al, 1998). 30 A reduction in fear of crime, improved quality of life, or satisfaction with the community were reported in a number of studies (Hallas et al, 2004;Koper, 1993;Minneapolis Police Department, 1999;Stevens, 2001;Thurman et al, 1998;Walsh et al, 2000).…”
