The NIST REFPROP Database for Highly Accurate Properties of Industrially Important Fluids

Abstract: The NIST REFPROP software program is a powerful tool for calculating thermophysical properties of industrially important fluids, and this manuscript describes the models implemented in, and features of, this software. REFPROP implements the most accurate models available for selected pure fluids and their mixtures that are valid over the entire fluid range including gas, liquid, and supercritical states, with the goal of uncertainties approaching the level of the underlying experimental data. The equations of … Show more

“…The temperature-dependent experimental data for the densities of water, ethanol, MM, MDM, and MD 2 M can be seen in Figures and and in Tables –. Both the results of the IMETER and the DMA show good agreement with Refprop and experimental data from the literature.…”

“…To validate the measurement of the experimentally determined data for the pure components, the experimental data will be compared with calculated values of Refprop as well as reported data from the literature. No experimental data could be found in the literature for the siloxane mixtures at the same temperature range and pressure.…”

“…The current industry standard, NIST's REFPROP (Huber et al, 2022), is neither free nor open. Another excellent alternative is coolprop (Bell et al, 2014), which is an NSF-funded flexible interface for an impressive variety of languages, which focuses heavily on multi-phase substances.…”
