Abstract: The yak (Bos grunniens) is a valuable livestock animal endemic to the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau in China with low reproductive rates. Cryptorchidism is one of the primary causes of infertility in male yaks. Compared with normal testes, the tight junctions (TJs) of Sertoli cells (SCs) and the integrity of the blood–testis barrier (BTB) in cryptorchidism are both disrupted.
