The on-site quality-assurance system for Hyper Suprime-Cam: OSQAH

Abstract: We have developed an automated quick data analysis system for data quality assurance (QA) for Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC). The system was commissioned in 2012–2014, and has been offered for general observations, including the HSC Subaru Strategic Program, since 2014 March. The system provides observers with data quality information, such as seeing, sky background level, and sky transparency, based on quick analysis as data are acquired. Quick-look images and validation of image focus are also provided through an i… Show more

“…Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC) is a wide-field imaging camera on the prime focus of the 8.2-meter Subaru telescope (Miyazaki et al 2015;Aihara et al 2018;Komiyama et al 2018;Furusawa et al 2018;Miyazaki et al 2018). Among three layers in the HSC survey, the Wide layer will cover 1400 deg 2 in five broad photometric bands (grizy) over 5-6 years, with excellent image quality of sub-arcsec seeing.…”

“…The Hyper Suprime Cam Subaru Strategic Program (hereafter HSC-SSP) is an ongoing wide-field survey executed by the Hyper Suprime Cam mounted on the 8.2 meter Subaru telescope (Miyazaki et al 2012;Furusawa et al 2018;Komiyama et al 2018;Miyazaki et al 2018, Kawanomoto et al 2018. HSC-SSP is set to cover over 1400 deg 2 of the sky in five bands (grizy) to i HSC ∼ 26 (5σ point source depth, see Aihara et al 2018a,b).…”
