“…We focused here on RBD in part because it is the strongest prodromal marker of α‐synucleinopathies, and we wanted to explore the idea that ET‐plus may be a prediagnostic phase of PD or other neurodegenerative disease . We found that pRBD was present in 20.5% of ET‐plus patients and 8.3% of ET patients, and these prevalence were higher than the prevalence of RBD in the general Chinese population (2.70%) or the prevalence of pRBD in the general population (5.5%) .…”

“…In general practice, propranolol may be prescribed for coronary heart disease, hypertension, variceal hemorrhage prophylaxis, tachyarrhythmia and palpitations, migraine headache prophylaxis, and for controlling tremor and essential tremor. Among these, only migraine and essential tremor were found to be associated with increased risk of PD. To account for confounding by indication by these 2 risk factors, we have adjusted for migraine, and we have also shown that the results were consistent after excluding individuals with essential tremor.…”

“…This topic has been addressed in the past,15 but it is worth revisiting it in view of recently published data related to this subject, including new diagnostic criteria for ET and PD, and additional studies in imaging, epidemiology, pathology, and genetics.…”
