The Pannonian Plain: Denomination, Definition and Subdivision

Abstract: The Pannonian Plain is a landscape- and a physico-geographic unit. It encompasses the plain, lowland landscapes of the Pannonian realm. If we follow the Pannonian Plain along the Danube valley, it starts from with Vienna Basin continues downstream till the Iron Gate. The Pannonian Plain (Pannon-alföld / Panonska nizija) can be subdivided in six landscape units.
