The pathogenicity of cytomegalovirus

Abstract: Human cytomegalovirus is ubiquitous, yet causes little illness in immunocompetent individuals. Disease is evident in immunodeficient groups such as neonates, transplant recipients and AIDS patients either following a primary infection or reactivation of a latent infection.
