However, it worth to note that direct reaction of ascorbate radical with GSH with formation of ascorbate and thiyl radical is thermodynamically unfavorable [44], and the mechanism of ascorbate radical scavenging by GSH might be complex. The apparent bimolecular rate constant of the ascorbate radical reduction by GSH was found to be comparatively low, 10 M −-1 s −1 , therefore it hardly could play significant role in vivo.…”

Hydroxyl radical attack on tocopherol forms a stabilized phenolic radical that is reduced back to the phenol by ascorbate and NADH/NADPH reductase enzyme (28).
