The Performance of CR180IF and DP600 Laser Welded Steel Sheets under Different Strain Rates

Abstract: The presented research background is a car body manufacturer’s request to test the car body’s components welded from dissimilar steel sheets. In view of the vehicle crew’s protection, it is necessary to study the static and dynamic behavior of welded steels. Therefore, the influence of laser welding on the mechanical and dynamical properties, microstructure, microhardness, and welded joint surface roughness of interstitial free CR180IF and dual-phase DP600 steels were investigated. Static tensile tests were ca… Show more

“…So, the ductile fracture indicates that the weld joint before quenching has a good plasticity [19]. However, some river patterns and many voids are also observed in the dimples, mainly due to the high martensite strength and poor ductility after quenching, and a large number of secondary cracks and dissociation platform occur during the tensile process [21]. The dimples in Fig.…”

“…2 has been used for many years and has undergone a significant change in recent years. The automotive industry has a significant impact on people's daily lives worldwide and affects their safety (Mihaliková et al, 2021). Two basic approaches in the automotive industry represented by the AIAG manual (2022) and the VDA manual (2022) have united, and the result is a joint harmonized edition of the FMEA manual, the first edition of the AIAG & VDA FMEA Handbook.…”

“…However, some river patterns and many voids are also observed in the dimples. This is mainly caused by the generation of high strength and poor ductility martensite after quenching and the large number of secondary cracks and dissociation platforms which occur during the tensile process [24]. The dimples in Figure 18b are cup-shaped dimples with large depth mixed with a large number of voids.…”
