“…After drug quantitation in plasma and saliva, acebutolol and its acetyl analogue S/P ratios were calculated for each subject, for each collection procedure and at each collection time. Although Parafilm drug binding has been shown to occur with propranolol and thus to slightly modify its measured salivary levels (Taylor, Kaspi & Turner, 1978), this possibility can probably be ruled out in the case of acebutolol which is much less lipid soluble than propranolol. Mean plasma peak values for acebutolol (536 + 87 ng/ml) and its acetyl analogue (910 117 ng/ml) were reached respectively 2 and 4 h after acebutolol administration.…”
