The polymorphisms of MyoD1 gene in Manych Merino sheep and its influence on body conformation traits

Abstract: Candidate genes associated with meat productivity often affect the performance of myostatin and muscle development in general. The MyoD1 gene is a member of the myogenic regulatory factor (MRF) family and plays a key role in the differentiation of skeletal muscle cells in vertebrates. We investigated the structure of the MyoD1 gene. The effect of polymorphisms on meat production was studied in the Russian sheep breed Manych Merino. To detect alleles, we used NimbleGen sequencing technology (Roche, USA). In the… Show more

“…Polymorphisms in the intron region of IGF1 was found to be associated with carcass traits such as length of carcass and rib yield (Meira et al., 2019). Two other studies report SNPs in the intron 1 region to have associations with sheep body weight (Trukhachev, Skripkin, et al., 2016) and carcass traits (Su et al., 2014). Two IGF1 genotypes namely A 2 and B 2 were detected by Li et al.…”

“…In recent years, a number of reports have appeared that noted the relationship between the different gene polymorphisms and the meat production of sheep bred in Russia (Gorlov et al 2016;Trukhachev et al 2016Trukhachev et al , 2017Gorlov et al 2018b). The purpose of these studies was to enhance the level and quality of meat production, as well as reduce the cost of feed per unit of production in Russian sheep breeding.…”
