Everyone is taught to live independently, independence is a pattern of life that is formed from the habits of various human habits. Habit of thinking is one of the causes. The habits of intelligent thinking of each individual are called habits of mind. Independence and habits of mind are the factors needed in the series of learning processes so that the problems faced by students are able to be resolved properly, becoming a problem in schools that students' learning independence is less honed because of the dominance of teachers in teaching. The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of students' learning independence and habits of mind. Conducted in 2020 in class X MIA SMAN 7 Pekanbaru. This research is a descriptive research type with a survey method. The instruments used were in the form of a questionnaire of learning independence and habits of mind with 30 items of positive and negative statements that have been validated on a 5-Likert scale ranging from strongly disagree (SD) to strongly agree (SA) With three questionnaire categories, there are 3, namely high (mean 4.41-5.00), moderate (mean 3.39-4.40), low (mean 1.00-3.38). The research data were processed by using descriptive percentages. The results showed that the independent learning in portfolio assessment learning was 3.60 in the medium category. The mean of students' habits of mind is 3.8 in the medium category

This article presents the findings of a study measuring perceptions of teacher autonomy of practitioners of English as a foreign language (EFL). This study also sought to identify areas in which Indonesian secondary schools need to improve to enable teachers to enjoy a greater degree of freedom while completing teaching-related activities. Additionally, it aimed to explore correlations between practitioners’ perceptions of teacher autonomy and their gender, school location, school status and teaching experience. This was a mixed-methods study comprising a sequential explanatory design with two consecutive stages: quantitative and qualitative. The data were gathered using two instruments: a closed-ended questionnaire and a focus group. The sample consisted of 185 (74 male and 111 female) Indonesian secondary school EFL teachers, recruited using convenience sampling. The findings indicated that teachers’ sense of autonomy in relation to seven specific areas of their work was relatively high. Specifically, they perceived themselves to have a considerable amount of autonomy with respect to teaching methodology, instructional materials, course content, assessment, and, more recently, lesson planning. However, they expressed disappointment at being excluded from the decision-making process regarding the school curriculum. The findings also revealed that teachers expected more school support in relation to teaching facilities and professional development. The article concludes by considering several key implications for school management teams regarding the need to foster teacher autonomy among English language practitioners.

Sử dụng ‘E-portfolio’ trên trang Google Sites như công cụ đánh giá quá trình học tập ngoài giờ học trên lớp nhằm giúp sinh viên phát triển tính tự chủ là mục tiêu nghiên cứu chính của nhóm tác giả. 101 sinh viên tham gia khóa học Phương pháp kiểm tra đánh giá tiếng Anh vào học kỳ hè năm 2015 và được chia thành 25 nhóm nhỏ tham gia tạo ‘E-portfolio’. Trong khóa học này, sinh viên phải soạn năm bài kiểm tra tiếng Anh đưa lên ‘E-portfolio’ sau khi học xong lý thuyết trên lớp. Công cụ thu thập dữ liệu bao gồm một bảng khảo sát có 30 tiêu chí nhằm tìm hiểu lợi ích của ‘E-portfolio’ và sinh viên tự đánh thiện chí làm việc độc lập của họ. Kết quả phân tích cho thấy ‘E-portfolio’ đã giúp sinh viên nâng cao một số phẩm chất cá nhân, nâng cao kiến thức chuyên môn và kỹ năng soạn bài thi tiếng Anh. Đặt biệt là ‘E-portfolio’ đã giúp sinh viên phát triển tính tự chủ thể hiện ở ý thức trách nhiệm và động lực. Kết quả đánh giá khả năng tự học của sinh viên dựa trên sản phẩm được lưu trên Google Sites cho thấy kỹ năng tạo ‘E-portfolio’chỉ đạt mức trung bình khá và kỹ năng soạn bài kiểm tra đạt mức khá. Nhóm tác giả đề nghị giảng viên phụ trách môn học tiếp tục hình thức đánh giá này cho các khóa học tiếp theo và cần tìm giải pháp giúp các em cải thiện sự tự tin khi tự học ngoài giờ học chính khóa.
