“…To calculate sample size, we compared early POCD occurrence between cases after elective and those after emergent CS under GA, as it was the primary outcome of the study. As reported in a previous publication (15), we assumed that emergent CS causes cognitive dysfunction in at least 10 patients. The minimum calculated sample size was 24 patients in each arm to reject the null hypothesis with 80% power at α = 0.05 level using Student's t-test.…”
