Abstract

Williams College. Professor Lara Shore-Sheppard shared an extremely useful file with me that essentially allowed me to complete this thesis.A number of other people at Wesleyan have also been instrumental in my completion of this thesis and I am grateful for their help. Professor Wendy Rayack has provided me with invaluable research opportunities during my time at Wesleyan. Conversations with ProfessorRayack are what initially inspired me to write a thesis in the first place and to choose the topic I did. Professor Abigail Hornstein has been a wonderful resource and mentor over my time at Wesleyan, and much of my knowledge of econometrics I owe to her. Also, Manolis Kaparakis in the Quantitative Analysis Center showed me that I was able to do complex data work in Stata and I am thankful for his Summer Apprenticeship program.My family and friends have also made this whole process enjoyable. My parents and brother have been supportive of my research and my time at Wesleyan. Last, many thanks to my friends at Wesleyan.
