“…Despite alarmingly high rates of sexual aggression perpetration among both men and women (e.g., Krahé et al, 2015), the evidence on predictors is limited and built predominantly on all-male samples from Western countries. In particular, there is little evidence available from Chile and Turkey (Schuster & Krahé, 2017a, 2017b). To address this shortage, the present study sought to examine predictors of sexual aggression perpetration among male and female college students in Chile and Turkey using a two-wave longitudinal design.…”

“…Therefore, the purpose of the present study was to examine predictors of sexual aggression perpetration, defined as making another person engage in sexual activities against her or his will. We studied perpetration among male and female college students, using a two-wave longitudinal design and including two countries outside the mainstream of past research, namely Turkey and Chile, for which studies on risk factors of sexual aggression are virtually absent (see reviews by Schuster & Krahé, 2017a, 2017b). The two countries were selected on the basis of theoretical considerations to investigate risk factors of perpetration identified in previous research, with a special focus on the role of sexual scripts for consensual sexual interactions.…”

“…A substantial methodological diversity was found across studies, hampering comparisons between studies and the emergence of a coherent knowledge base. This problem is not specific to the region considered here but is characteristic of the field of sexual aggression research in general, as typically described by literature reviews from both developed and developing countries (Dartnall & Jewkes, 2013; Jejeebhoy & Bott, 2005; Krahé, Bieneck, & Möller, 2005; Krahé, Tomaszewska, Kuyper, & Vanwesenbeeck, 2014; Kruttschnitt, Kalsbeek, & House, 2014; Schuster & Krahé, 2017; Schuster & Krahé, 2019; Winzer, 2016). Diversity included (1) variability in how sexual aggression and victimization were defined, reflected also in the type and number of questions presented; (2) variability in the sample composition in terms of sex, age, sexual orientation, and occupation; (3) variability in the time frame for which frequency reports of sexual aggression and victimization were elicited; and (4) variability in terms of the relationship between victims and perpetrator considered in the survey.…”

“…Sexual aggression transgresses young people's human rights with social, educational, physical, health and psychological short and long-term consequences [36]. However, despite this global human rights travesty and evidence indicating that sexual aggression among youth is a serious problem within the UK, to our knowledge, there is no overview of the evidence on this issue within the UK [37][38][39]. This study will map the breadth of available literature on sexual aggression among young people in the UK to inform future directions in research and policy on this issue within the social, cultural and political context of the UK.…”
