“…The incidence of LVSI in patients with endometrial cancer is reported to be about 25% when all the stages and tumor grades are included [11,14]. In previous studies, the incidence of LVSI in clinical stage I was 14%-16% [8,9,15] and it was 15.5%-32.6% in clinical stages I and II [3,16]. The incidence of LVSI was 4.3% in surgical stages I and II [17] and it was 24.6% to 34.4% when all the surgical stages were included [18,19].…”

“…These factors, when considered together, allow us to stratify patients according to risk of local, regional, or distant relapse, thereby potentially allowing the selection of patients who require adjuvant therapies (44). Lymphovascular invasion is associated with the presence of lymph node metastases, poor prognosis, and disease recurrence (45,46). Thus simple MR volumetric assessment of tumors seems to be an easy and accurate method for prediction of lymphovascular invasion; a TVR of greater than or equal to 25% is an easy parameter to use to identify patients at high risk.…”

“…Their results are consistent with those of the current study, namely that LVI is related to lymph node metastasis and that BVI is a significant prognostic factor independent of both LVI and lymph node metastasis. Tsuruchi et al 16 reported the significance of LVSI in endometrial carcinoma as determined by HE staining and that determined by staining for von Willebrand factor (factor VIII). They suggested that the determination of LVSI in endometrial carcinoma on the basis of HE staining is related more closely to patient survival than findings of LVSI as determined by special staining for the von Willebrand factor.…”
