“…[34, 35], [36] Elevated adiponectin expression may also correlate with worsened outcome, as noted by a report from Taiwan which suggested that high cytoplasmic staining of HCC tumors with adiponectin was associated with recurrence and worsened survival, possibly via upregulation of AKT. This finding persisted after controlling for BMI and fasting blood sugar.…”

“…p27 has been considered as a tumor suppressor gene, with p27 dysfunction causing excess cell cycle activity and carcinogenosis 68 . In these HepG2 and MCF-7 cell lines, gAcrp induced Fas ligand activity and hence promoted apoptosis 67 .…”

“…In chronic hepatitis B, 40 patients with cirrhosis and 120 patients with HCC demonstrated markedly increased serum adiponectin levels [31]. Increased serum levels in HCC patients were also observed in another study which showed increased adiponectin expression in HCC tumor samples [32]. Another study assessing cirrhotic and non-cirrhotic HCC patients found increased serum levels of both adiponectin and leptin in this patient population [33].…”
