“The Propellers of My Life” The Impact of Domestic Violence Transitional Housing on Parents and Children

Abstract: Housing and homelessness are frequent issues facing domestic violence (DV) survivors and their children. Several DV programs provide transitional housing (DVTH) to address the housing needs of DV survivors and their children. “…Adaptations include focusing on safety and trauma and emphasizing social and emotional well-being over harm reduction ( Klein et al, 2019 ; Sullivan, 2018 ; Sullivan & Olsen, 2016 ). The DVHF model also recognizes that some survivors may want time in a secure, supportive environment such as a DV shelter or transitional housing before living in their own housing ( Wood et al, 2022 ).
