“…PIK3CA , an essential component of the PI3K signaling pathway, recruits proteins that possess pH domains to the cell membrane, initiating the signaling cascade responsible for processes such as proliferation, cell growth, and survival [ 74 , 75 ]. The PI3K/AKT signaling pathway crucially regulates various cellular processes [ 76 , 77 ]. In the present study, AKT3 and PIK3CA were identified as hub genes with significant 6 h upregulation, indicating their critical immune function via the PI3K/AKT cascade pathway.…”

“…Mitochondria not only produce ATP but are also involved in regulating a variety of programmed cell deaths. Recently, considerable evidence has accumulated to show that mitochondria are important organelles of intracellular iron metabolism and are also key regulators of ferroptosis. , Mitochondria can absorb cytoplasmic labile iron for the synthesis of ISCs and heme or stored in mitochondrial ferritin . However, mitochondria are also the main site for ROS production, and ROS can interact with excess iron or ISCs in mitochondria and catalyzes the Fenton reaction in mitochondria to produce more ROS, triggering a vicious cycle of mitochondrial damage. , Therefore, as a key protein responsible for ISC output of mitochondria, CISD1 plays a crucial role in maintaining mitochondrial iron homeostasis and defending against mitochondria-dependent ferroptosis. , One study showed that inhibition of CISD1 expression leads to mitochondrial Fe 2+ accumulation and lipid peroxidation of mitochondrial membranes, resulting in erastin-induced ferroptosis in hepatocellular carcinoma cells .…”

“…As dynamic biophysical systems, mitochondria play a decisive role in regulating energy metabolism and controlling cell survival ( Chen et al, 2023 ; Hao et al, 2023 ). Mitochondrial damage is one of the common mechanisms under MPs exposure ( Liu et al, 2022 b; Zhang et al, 2022b ) in which MPs accumulate, breaking the electronic respiratory chain and further bringing mitochondrial membrane damage ( Das 2023 ).…”
