Abstract:Stem lodging is a serious problem for the ripe barley crop because it can reduce grain yield and quality. Although biometrical traits (stem diameter and wall thickness) and mechanical properties (stiffness and strength of the culm) have an obvious role in determining lodging resistance, they have only a partial capability to predict lodging resistance.
