Abstract:We have examined the cytolytic and bactericidal activity of resting and cytokine-stimulated natural-killer (NK) cells against K562 and Daudi cell lines and Escherichia coli, respectively. Unstimulated NK cells showed considerable cytolytic activity against K562 (64 +/- 4%) and relatively low activity against the Daudi cell lines (22 +/- 9%). Pretreatment of NK cells with the arylsulfatase (AS) type-II-specific inhibitor NaH2PO4 reduced cytotoxicity towards K562 and Daudi 1.3- and 2.9-fold (p < 0.05; n = 12), r… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
