The quantitative content of the main groups of biologically active substances in the bay laurel raw materiaL

Abstract: The study of the chemical composition of the bay laurel raw material has shown that the plant raw material contains such groups of biologically active substances (BAS) as carbohydrates, fatty and amino acids, phenolic compounds revealing a wide spectrum of the biological activity. The data concerning the chemical composition of the bay laurel raw material is not enough described in the literature sources. The content of the main BAS in different samples of bay laurel shoots and leaves has been determined. The … Show more

“…Previous investigations were found to mention the effect of phenolic compounds on seed germination and seedling growth of plants that have a contribution with growth and its hormonal activities [18,19]. The findings are in accordance with Yilmaz et al (2013) who isolated certain phenolic compounds from shoots of bay laurel plant extracts which compounds play crucial role in biological weed management [17,20,21]. The results regarding the allelopathic properties of the concentrations (0%, %2.5, %5, %7.5, and %10) of L. nobilis shoot extracts on seed germination and growth parameters of rapeseed (B. napus), wheat (T. aestivum), mung bean (V. radiata) and corn (Z. mays) illustrated that the negative influence can be increased by increasing of concentration of the L. nobilis shoot aqueous extract.…”

“…Изучение химического состава двух образцов листьев и побегов лавра благородного, собранных в ноябре 2013 г. в Крыму в окрестностях г. Алушта (1) и пос. Рыбачье (2) показало, что они содержат углеводы, жирные кислоты, аминокислоты и фенольные вещества [60]. Авторами исследования определено содержание основных групп БАВ, в том числе фенольных соединений, в разных образцах побегов и листьев лавра благородного (таблица 6).…”
