The ratio of pathogenic agent isolation in childhood gastroenteritis and its relevance to success in therapy

Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the current approach and management quality of childhood gastroenteritis in a secondary health center setting. METHODS: Children diagnosed with gastroenteritis between January 1st and October 1st of 2010 were evaluated retrospectively by analysis of the parameters of age, gender, month of admission, laboratory fi ndings, hydration therapy and hospitalization. RESULTS: The study included 216 boys (58%) and 156 girls (42%
