The “reactor simulator” program for simulating load-tracking states in a vvér-1000 reactor

Abstract: Currently operated VVI~R-1000 reactors operate in base-load support, and their standard data-acquisition and computing systems are designed in the main to maintain a steady state in the reactors. However, there are often deviations from base load operation, and a reactor may operate in a transient state several times during a run, which requires management in states far from equilibrium. Also, new designs for nuclear stations containing VVER-1000 envisage load following on the daily power graph. The operator sh… Show more

“…In the course of the experiment, the RS program continually (automatically, on-line) calculates the running boric acid concentration -the function C(t). In addition, C(t) and ρ(t) are calculated autonomously (off-line [6]). Ordinarily, the prescribed load schedule of the reactor cannot be maintained precisely, so that the results of the preliminary calculations are different from the experimental data.…”

“…This program is intended mainly for use in performing design calculations. A specialized version of this program -Reactor Simulator (RS) [6], geared toward simulation in real-time (on-line) and making it possible to predict xenon processes taking account of the operating history of the reactor -is incorporated in the standard system in the new VVER-1000 units for performing in-reactor monitoring [7].…”
