The reduction impact of monoglucosyl rutin on abdominal visceral fat: A randomized, placebo‐controlled, double‐blind, parallel‐group

Abstract: Water soluble α-glycosylated rutin (4G-α-D-glucopyranosyl rutin, monoglucosyl rutin, MR) was used in this study to evaluate its ability to reduce abdominal visceral fat (AVF). We conducted a study examining 66 healthy Japanese men and women with a body mass index of ≥23 and <30 kg/m 2 for 8 weeks. The subjects were randomly assigned to groups via computer random numbers as follows: MR200 group (MR 200 mg/day), MR400 group (MR 400mg/day), or placebo group. The primary outcome was change in the AVF area after 8 … Show more

“…In addition, there were no significant differences in lung tissues between the rutin group and the control group. Rutin is one of the most common native flavonoids (Bazyar et al, 2023; Corsale et al, 2018; Hashizume & Tandia, 2020). More and more clinical research has got insight into rutin and flavonoid mixture (Bazyar et al, 2023; Corsale et al, 2018; Hashizume & Tandia, 2020).…”

More and more clinical research has got insight into rutin and flavonoid mixture (Bazyar et al, 2023; Corsale et al, 2018; Hashizume & Tandia, 2020). For example, daily oral supplementation of 500 mg of rutin may have beneficial effects on improving metabolic parameters in T2DM patients (Bazyar et al, 2023).…”

“…The combination of Rutin and vitamin C also strengthened the effects of blood glucose control, insulin resistance, lipid status, and oxidative stress markers in type 2 diabetes patients (Ragheb et al, 2020). In addition, the enzyme-modified form of Rutin, water-soluble α-glycosylated Rutin, can be applied to obese individuals to improve overall health by reducing abdominal visceral fat (Hashizume & Tandia, 2020). These all provide a reference value for the clinical application of Rutin, and in future clinical research on the treatment of liver diseases with Rutin, the following methods can also be used, but not limited to: (1) adding traditional drug compatibility, (2) combining with clinical medication, and (3) preparing new Rutin formulations.…”

“…In Compelling evidence indicates that foods rich in flavonoids are healthy [11,12]. Rutin, in particular, can really be considered a promising bioactive component of many functional foods [13]. Based on clinical evidence, it may have beneficial effects on the improvement of metabolic parameters, in particular glycaemia, as well as reducing their side effects [4,14]; ii) reduce hyperglycemia (%HbA1c) in combination with the antidiabetic drugs acarbose and canagliflozin [15]; iii) improve diabetic neuropathy by potentiating the antiinflammatory drug nimesulide [16]; and iv) manage osteoarthritis symptoms in combination with oral proteolytic enzymes [17].…”
