“…[15] This hypothesis is supported by data showing a high correlation between tCAF with eGFR in different cohorts. [35,16,17] Our results of the predictive value of tCAF for short-term deteriorations of kidney function is supported by previously published data, which also demonstrated an association of tCAF with eGFR decline independent from baseline eGFR and proteinuria over a follow-up period of 12 months in 71 patients with diabetes mellitus. [7] Despite tCAF being associated with eGFR decline over the 12-month period, it is interesting to note that baseline eGFR and baseline proteinuria were not.…”

“…In this study, the age of CKD patients ranged from 30 to 73 years which is more or less similar to that reported by Dan Yu [14] , but a lower age range for CKD patients was detected in another study done by Jha [15] , in which the age range of their CKD patients was 20 to 50 years.…”

“…Agrin can be proteolytically cleaved which generates bioactive fragments that modulate cellular behaviour. 11 One of the agrin cleavage products, the C-terminal fragment (hereafter called Ct-agrin), has been shown to be a promising new biomarker for pathological processes, including sarcopenia, 12 renal dysfunction 13 and colorectal cancer. 14 The disintegration of the basement membrane upon local invasion processes can release agrin-processing products, such as Ct-agrin.…”
