The Refinement of Petri Net with Inhibitor Arcs Based Representation for Embedded Systems

Abstract: Embedded systems are widely used in various devices. PRES+ (Petri net- based Representation for Embedded Systems) has been used to model and analyze embedded systems. However, it cannot characterize the priority of events, and cannot fully express the complex data flow and control flow. To solve this problem, inhibitor arcs are added to PRES+ and PIRES+ (PRES+ with Inhibitor arcs) is obtained. However, PIRES+’s state space explosion problem is a handicap when modeling, verifying, and controlling complex, large… Show more

“…-From User Model to Building Model: a variant of message-passing invocation with inhibitor arcs is present; this variant is studied and reported in a recent paper [35]. In this scenario, the User Model has some places whose markings enable/disable some transition in the Building Model: this is the case of a door state -which is an action related to the user behaviour -that affects the thermal contribution the door gives to the room.…”

“…Synthesis [11][12][13][14][15], reduction [16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24], and refinement [25][26][27][28][29] are three commonly used Petri net transformation methods. Reduction is an important transformation method.…”

“…Therefore, adding inhibitor arcs to PRES+ can generate a PRES+ with inhibitor arcs (PIRES+, Petri net with inhibitor-arcs-based representation for embedded systems). Xia et al [19] analyzed the refinement operation of the PIRES+ and applied it to the modeling and verification of the mobile communication systems.…”

“…Cortes et al [13] extended PRES+ by introducing the definition of hierarchical structure and proposed some equivalent concepts of PRES+ and refinement methods to preserve complete equivalence. Xia et al [19] proposed a PIRES+ refinement method and applied it to modeling network communication systems.…”
