The Reinforcing Effect of Combined Carbon Nanotubes and Acetylene Blacks on the Positive Electrode of Lithium‐Ion Batteries

Abstract: Golden cascades: Two diastereoselective gold‐catalyzed cascade processes in which propargyl acetates react with alkenes or 1,4‐dienes afford highly substituted five‐ and seven‐membered rings, respectively (see scheme). The concerted nature of the gold‐catalyzed Cope rearrangement has been used in the formal enantioselective synthesis of marine norsesquiterpenoids Frondosins A and B.

“…This opens up the possibility of using the CNTs obtained in commercial applications, particularly if the iron catalyst was used, as this gave the highest yield. Studies have made use of multiwalled CNTs in a number of applications ranging from high strength composites, coatings, water treatment and energy technologies [19,[71][72][73][74][75][76][77]. In order to be used in these applications however, a purification process needs to be undertaken to remove amorphous carbons and other contaminants from the CNTs.…”

“…This opens up the possibility of using the CNTs obtained in commercial applications. Multiwalled CNTs find current uses in a range of applications ranging from high strength composites, coatings, water treatment and energy technologies [63][64][65][66][67][68][69][70]. In order to be used in these applications however, a purification process would need to be undertaken on the CNTs to separate the carbons from the catalyst and to remove amorphous carbons and other contaminants.…”

“…For example, CNTs can be applied as multifunctional coating materials, where multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) can be additives in paint production which aims to reduce bio-fouling [19,20]. The life cycle of batteries or capacitors can be extended with the addition MWCNTs due to increased electronic connectivity and mechanical integrity [19,21,22]. Considering the chemical and dimensional compatibility of CNTs with biomolecules, they have also been used in biosensors and medical devices [19,23].…”
