“…In a study in this regard, Sarkisian reported the mean score of ERA in three groups of elderlies (American, African-American, and non-American Caucasians), and the results are consistent with the present study (16). Furthermore, Li et al (17) proposed congruent findings in this regard in an elderly population in China. On the other hand, Kim (9) reached an inconsistent conclusion with the present study, reporting the ERA to be relatively poor in the elderly in Korea.…”

Despite this trend, participants initially identified as comparative optimists remained comparatively optimistic two years later, supporting the notion that comparative optimism is a robust tendency.…”

Older individuals considered an increase in aches and pains, decrease in energy levels, and increases in forgetting to be normal components of the ageing process (Li et al ., ). Pentek et al .…”

“…The behavioral pathway between ageism and health was supported by four studies. Healthpromoting behaviors in the form of physical activity was the most commonly investigated behavioral mediator between ageism and health [110][111][112]. That is, older persons who reported higher levels of ageism (i.e., negative age stereotypes and negative self-perceptions of aging) were less likely to engage in health-promoting behaviors, which, in turn, resulted in worse physical health.…”
