The Relationship Between Hematological Neoplasms and Lipid Profile

Abstract: Objective: Hypocholesterolemia is a metabolism disorder that may be seen in chronic diseases and malignancies. Various dyslipidemia profiles have been shown in adult and pediatric hematological malignancies. We aimed to evaluate the lipid profile properties in patients diagnosed with a hematological malignancy compared to a healthy control group. Method: Out of 1213 patients diagnosed with hematologic malignancy, the data of 98 patients whose pretreatment lipid profiles had already been studied, were reviewed.… Show more

“…There was a considerable decrease(p˂0.05) in cholesterol and HDL, whereas triglycerides value a significantly elevated(P˂0.05) when compared with males between( patients and controls) and females between (patients and power). This results in agreement with the other findings 21 . Different researchers explained the relation between hypocholesterolemia and the stage of maturation of leukemic blast cells in acute myeloid leukemia 22 .…”

“…Cholesterol is involved in the progression of various critical illnesses by modulating inflammatory immune responses and neutralizing endotoxins in pathological situations ( 22 24 ), and hypocholesterolemia has been reported to be associated with poor prognosis in sepsis ( 25 , 26 ) heart failure ( 27 ), ischemic stroke ( 28 ), and malignancy ( 29 , 30 ). However, studies on serum cholesterol levels in HLH patients are scarce.…”
