Aim: Prevalence of colorectal carcinoma with respect to age and gender Study design: Observational / cross sectional study. Place and duration of study: This study was conducted at the Department of Pathology and Surgery, Post Graduate Medical Institute Lahore and Jinnah Medical College Peshawar from July, 2013 to February, 2015 Methodology: Surgical specimens of 60 histopathologically diagnosed cases of colorectal adenocarcinoma were included in this study. Age and sex were evaluated in CRC. Results: The mean±sd of age was 54.4±19.7 yrs. Out of 60 cases, 6 (10%) were between 16-29 yrs, 9 (15%) cases were between 30-49 yrs, 34 cases (56.7%) were of 50-69 yrs and 11 cases (18.33%) were of 70 yrs. Out of sixty cases, males were 33 (55%) and females were 27(45%). Conclusion: There are 34 out of 60(56.7%) patients were 50-69 years and 33 out of 60 (55%) cases were males i.e. males dominance. Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway is implicated in the etiology and progression of metabolic disorders. While lines of genetic evidence suggest that blockage of this pathway yields favorable outcomes in treating such ailments, few inhibitors have been used to validate the promising genetic findings. Here, we synthesized and characterized a novel class of triazole-based Wnt/βcatenin signaling inhibitors, and assessed their effects on energy metabolism. One of the top inhibitors, compound 3a, promoted Axin stabilization, which led to the proteasome degradation of β-catenin and subsequent inhibition of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling in cells. Treatment of hepatocytes and high fat diet-fed mice with compound 3a resulted in significantly decreased hepatic lipid accumulation. Moreover, compound 3a improved glucose tolerance of high fat dietfed mice without noticeable toxicity, while downregulating the genes involved in the glucose and fatty acid anabolism. The new inhibitors are expected to be further developed for the treatment of metabolic disorders.

The stator resistance variation will deteriorate the performance of a direct torque controlled (DTC) drive, and therefore is a significant issue for DTC. In order to solve this issue, a novel stator resistance estimator for an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (IPMSM) based on stator current has been proposed and evaluated. The advantage of this scheme is that it needs the current signals only. By means of comparing the actual current and the reference current, the change of stator resistance can be tracked. Modeling and experimental results show the effectiveness of the new method.
