The relationship between microvessel density, proliferative activity and expression of vascular endothelial growth factor-A and its receptors in eutopic endometrium and endometriotic lesions

Abstract: Studies were performed to elucidate the possible relationship between microvessel density, proliferative activity and angiogenesis in eutopic endometrium from women with and without endometriosis and peritoneal endometriotic lesions. The question whether changes in these parameters in endometriotic lesions were reflected by the level of vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A) in serum and peritoneal fluid was also studied. Biopsy specimens of both eutopic endometrium and peritoneal endometriotic lesions … Show more

“…In accordance with previously reported data, the pattern of VEGFR2 immunodistribution observed in our endometriosis-like tissue was also exhibited in non-vascular cells, such as those in the glandular epithelium and interstitial stroma (Meduri et al 2000, Bourlev et al 2006, Punyadeera et al 2006, Machado et al 2008. Given that DRD2 does not seem to be consistently expressed in VEGFR2-positive structures, we hypothesize that the reduction in VEGFR2 expression in cell types expressing this receptor was exerted by DRD2-A in a paracrine fashion.…”

“…VEGF is a potent proangiogenic factor and is an essential growth factor for vascular endothelial cells. It is produced by different cells such as vascular smooth muscle, endothelial, and inflammatory cells (21). VEGF mRNA has been detected in numerous tumors, with VEGF immunoreactivity being localized in tumor cells and stromal matrix.…”

“…Иммуногисто-химическое окрашивание для ЭР и ПР было выпол-нено в стандартных условиях, как это было описано нами ранее [11,21]. Использовались следующие пер-вичные антитела: мышиные моноклональные анти-человеческие антитела ЭР-альфа, кроличьи поли-клональные античеловеческие антитела ЭР-бета, мышиные моноклональные античеловеческие анти-тела ПР-A+B, мышиные моноклональные античе-ловеческие антитела ПР-B.…”
