Background:With the exponential influence of technology on students' learning, Computer-based Simulation Learning (CSL) has perceived to have great potential in enhancing the training of healthcare professionals including pharmacists. However, limited evidence is available to compare its impacts on knowledge gained and learning approaches to that of conventional lectures. Materials and Methods: A total of 168 pharmacy students were randomly assigned to "CSL group" (Group I, intervention group) or "Lecture group" (Group II) in this study. The students' knowledge and deep information processing capabilities were evaluated through a quantitative survey, followed by focus group interviews to obtain an in-depth perspective of the student learning through CSL. Results and Discussion: Compared to didactic lecture, CSL significantly enhanced knowledge gained by the students. There was no significant difference between CSL and didactic lecture on students' deep information processing skills, although CSL was more effective at promoting the critical reading domain. On the other hand, didactic lecture had higher impacts on healthcare students' structuring skills. The features to be considered in designing an effective computer-based learning tool were highlighted in this study. Conclusion: Both CSL and didactic lecturing have its role in training pharmacy students' knowledge and deep information processing skills.

Extant studies highlight that different motivation and learning approach contributes to the different result of study outcomes. This condition reflects in students in Accounting Education Department where they experienced two learning approaches namely: Deep Learning and Surface Learning applied during the completion of their study in the respective university. In students' batch of 2015 where they refer to the blockcurriculum mechanism assuming that students in this batch are in the stream of surface learning. Likewise, students above the 2016 batches are practicing deep learning approach following the implementation of six (6) assignments under KKNI namely: regular assignment, critical book report, critical journal report, mini research, project and idea engineering embedded in each of subjects in the curriculum. This study is set to ascertain the influence of motivation and both learning approaches on students' performances in both batches. Based on the data collection from 142 students using questionnaires that further tested with a multiple regression analysis method, it is found that students' motivations and learning approaches influence the students' performance positively and significantly. The study confirms relevant prior research and the Social Constructivism Theory to the extent that students' collaboration in various learning activities the have engaged both in and outside classrooms complement the outcome of surface learning approach toward stepping the deep learning one.

This project gives student groups the opportunity to research and analyze publicly available information in the context of audit planning and risk assessment for a publicly traded company. Students simulate an audit team environment and deliver a summary audit-planning memo, risk assessment analytical procedures, and a video presentation in which each audit team presents its findings to the ''audit partner.'' This project accomplishes several important learning objectives, including (1) familiarizing students with the SEC's EDGAR database and other public sources of company data; (2) fostering students' research and critical-thinking skills; and (3) improving students' understanding of the risk assessment process. This project uses free, publicly available information to achieve these objectives, and the project can be easily modified for subsequent classes by requiring students to utilize the most recent year's filings when completing the project. The project is appropriate for undergraduate or graduate auditing students.
