The Relationship Between Regulatory Emotional Self-Efficacy and Core Self-Evaluation of College Students: The Mediation Effects of Suicidal Attitude

Abstract: This study analyzed the mediation effect of a suicidal attitude from regulatory emotional self-efficacy to core self-evaluation. A measurement study was conducted among 438 college students using the Regulatory Emotional Self-Efficacy Scale, the Core Self-Evaluation Scale, and the Suicide Attitude Questionnaire. Results from the plug-in process in SPSS and the bootstrap method showed that the attitude toward suicidal behavior and the attitude toward family members of an individual who has committed suicide pla… Show more

“…The Model 4 of Hayes’ (2013) PROCESS macro in IBM SPSS Statistics version 24.0 for Windows was used to perform the Bootstrap examination to examine the mediating role of inclusive leadership in the relationships between work engagement and innovative behaviour (Zhao & Shi, ). Firstly, we defined work engagement as an independent variable (X) and innovative behaviour as an outcome variable (Y); secondly, testing whether the indirect effect of X on Y (a × b) was statistically significant; if 95% CI did not cross 0, there was a mediating path in model; if not, the mediation model was not proper; thirdly, testing whether the direct effect of X on Y (C’) was statistically significant.…”

“…From the perspective of core self-evaluation, physical exercise can improve core self-evaluation. Individuals with higher core self-evaluation have stronger psychological adjustment ability, are more likely to use positive coping strategies, and have higher life satisfaction ( Zhao and Shi, 2018 ). Therefore, core self-evaluation can play an important role in the bridge between physical and mental health, which is consistent with the existing findings ( Xiang et al, 2019 ).…”

“…The relationship between well-being, work engagement, and the Spearman correlation tested character strengths. The study used model 4 of Hayes's PROCESS macro and bootstrap method to examine the mediating role of work engagement in the relationship between 4 elements of character strength and well-being [23]. At first, the study defined 4 elements of character strengths as the independent variable (X) in turn, using subjective well-being as the dependent variable (Y).…”
