The Research into the Effect of Conditions of Combined Electric Powered Diamond Processing on Cutting Power

Abstract: The paper presents results of the investigation into efficiency of high-tensile composite materials grinding with metal bonded diamond abrasive tools, as well as it demonstrates the necessity to stabilize diamond disks cutting properties in order to reduce cutting power, since it is one of important economic indicators of processing. The comparative analysis of preliminary studies of various diamond processing methods reveals that the minimal cutting power is observed when using the combined method of electric… Show more

“…It should be noted that the configuration of such a cutting tool having the point angle of the blade b = 55°is associated with certain difficulties to obtain low roughness on the front and back surfaces and minimize the defects on the main cutting edge. To improve the sharpening quality, the electro-diamond grinding method has been used allowing to machine the high-strength materials with high coefficient [16][17][18][19][20][21][22].…”

“…These tasks can be accomplished by implementing the device for combined electric diamond grinding (CEDG) of machine parts with continuous wheel dressing [9][10][11][12]. The device consists of the dressing electrode installed outside the processing zone.…”

“…Electrochemical methods of grinding are based on the principle of local anode dissolution in a flowing electrolyte, with anode being the processed tool or a workpiece. The processes of electro-chemical and mechanical machining of metals and alloys are based on the principle of combined removal of the surface layer by anode dissolution and mechanical destruction of the metal surface [9,10,11]. These processes are accompanied by various structural defects formed on the processed material surface because of the abrasive grains action at elastic-plastic deformations.…”
