The research of the application of the binary search algorithm of RFID system in the supermarket shopping information identification

Abstract: The traditional bar code scanning in supermarkets is inefficient, which has been unable to meet the further development of a supermarket. To meet the needs of quick shopping in supermarkets, binary search algorithm has been proposed to prevent from anti-collision, which makes it faster to scan and identify the goods. On this basis, the goods which have not been checked out will be scanned again to obtain security. Besides, it plays an important role in the supermarket shopping system to achieve the functions o… Show more

“…Thus, this prediction ability will enhance marketing tools by foreseeing customer demands and preferences. customer checkout process in physical supermarkets (Wu et al 2019). For example, automated gates will identify the contents of full shopping baskets by having customers just walk past; thus, customers can pay for all the items in their carts without scanning them separately.…”

“…The use of radio-frequency identification (RFID) systems, which are digital transmitting tags attached to objects, during supermarket shopping will bring new insights in terms of shelf stock and logistics but will also open the possibility of simplifying the customer checkout process in physical supermarkets (Wu et al , 2019). For example, automated gates will identify the contents of full shopping baskets by having customers just walk past; thus, customers can pay for all the items in their carts without scanning them separately.…”

“…Conventional checkout counters are inconvenient for consumers, especially during peak times, and are labor-intensive, leading to higher costs. Long wait times contribute to customer dissatisfaction [1][2][3]. This is often due to the use of slower traditional methods for invoice generation [4][5][6].…”

“…The Arduino interfaces with a Memory Unit, which contains information such as a product description, price, and stock count [10]. The results are then displayed on an LCD screen attached to the trolley [1][ 9] [14][15]. RFID technology has become increasingly popular as an alternative to barcode systems [5][16-18].…”

“…The logistics industry is one of the earliest adopters of IoT and RFID solutions [5] , while these technologies are now used in several application contexts, such as military and defense applications, supply chains, food industry and so forth. As an example, RFID tags may be applied to manage inventories, to reduce overstocks and to avoid understocks as well as to track the overall lifecycle of a product [6] .…”
