The Residual Protonmotive Force in Mitochondria after an Oxygen Pulse

Abstract: Both from irreversible thermodynamics and from mass-action kinetics it can be derived that upon anaerobiosis in an oxygen-pulse experiment the protonmotive force across a mitochondrial membrane undergoes a sudden drop.
