The responses of the four main substitution mechanisms of H in olivine to H2O activity at 1050 °C and 3 GPa

Abstract: The water solubility in olivine C H 2 O ð Þ has been investigated at 1050°C and 3 GPa as a function of water activity a H 2 O ð Þ at subsolidus conditions in the piston-cylinder apparatus, with a H 2 O varied using H 2 O-NaCl fluids. “…Qualitatively, there is an excellent agreement between the fitted peaks derived from this study for [TiChu-PD] with 3,572 and 3,525 cm À1 as main peaks (red in Figure 4) with experimental Jollands et al, 2016) and natural olivine from spinel peridotites (e.g., San Carlos olivine, Schmädicke et al, 2013;Turner et al, 2015).
