Economic growth is the main task of any state. It involves increasing the rate of production, which has a negative impact on nature. The paper examines the ecological situation in the constituent entities of the Volga Federal District on the basis of statistical data on emissions of pollutants into the air and water. This region is one of the leaders in terms of industrial production, therefore the constant problems of air pollution are relevant for the territory and require constant intervention from the state and the whole society. Environmental problems have their consequences, they affect not only nature, but also the socio-economic sphere, which in turn is directly related to the investment attractiveness of the region. The investment attractiveness of the region is an important resource that is necessary for economic growth, in many respects it is he who is an indicator of the state of the regional economy and the effectiveness of the environmental and economic management of the regional government. The article not only analyzes the ecological situation of the region and its subjects, but also substantiates the need for further study of the problems in order to identify regions in which the practices of environmental and economic management have developed, with the aim of their application in subjects with environmental problems, which will allow attracting investors in the future and improve social and economic development.
