Abstract: Background Owing to the well-established volume-outcome relationship, hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgery is commonly regionalized to academic, teaching hospitals. However, regionalization is associated with decreased access for some populations in need, as well as geographic and financial barriers for patients.
