Ethnobotanical study of the non-medicinal plant by village communities in the karst area of Pacitan, East Java, Indonesia. Intl J Trop Drylands 6: 1-10. The local community of Pacitan District, especially in the karst area in several villages of Tulakan Sub-district, has a yard and farm usually planted with many species of plants that have various benefits. These plants are edible, animal feed, spices, biopesticides, and plant growth hormones. However, the knowledge of the local community of Tulakan Sub-district regarding the various benefits of plants is only known from generation to generation, conveyed orally and in daily practice habits, so a study is needed to document this information. This study aims to reveal the knowledge of local communities and the diversity of non-medicinal plant species to meet communities' daily lives. The location of research was carried out in 2 villages located in Tulakan Sub-district, Pacitan District, East Java, Indonesia, namely Bungur Village and Tulakan Village. Data was collected through field surveys and direct interviews using the snowball sampling technique. A total of 40 respondents were interviewed, with details 14 male and 26 female. Respondents with the majority of high school educational backgrounds have around 46-55 years old. The inventory of non-medicinal plants amounted to 60 species of angiosperm plants from 43 families. The plants used consisted of 34 species for the edible plants, 20 species for the fodder plants, 6 species for herbs, 1 species used for biopesticide, and 1 species used for natural growth hormone. Based on the study results, it is known that local people use plants as an edible plants with more diverse plant species compared to other uses.

Nurseries are the main critical phase in the cultivation of Coleus (Plectranthus scutellarioides (L.) R.Br.), which is useful as a raw material for traditional medicine. The key to producing well-grown, healthy, and uniform seedlings is using exogenous hormones throughout the seedling stage. Shallot has the potential to be used as an exogenous hormone. The study was conducted with shallot concentration treatment (0, 35, 70, and 100%) and soaking time (0, 12, and 24 hours). The results show shallot's activity as an exogenous hormone in coleus seedlings, including increasing the root volume of coleus seedlings through the initiation of root hairs, altering seedling height, and stimulating seedling adventitious shoot growth. Conversely, high concentrations of shallots reduced the number of coleus seedling shoots.

Background and Objective: The use of shallot varieties and sources of the eco enzyme as organic fertilizer is an alternative effort to increase the productivity of shallot bulbs. The study aims to determine the growth and production response of shallot varieties on the application of potassium sources from the eco enzyme. Materials and Methods: This research was conducted in the experimental land of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara from February-April, 2021, used a factorial randomized block design. The first factor is the variety of shallots from the bulb (Lokananta and Sanren F1) and the second factor is the potassium source from the eco enzyme (control, orange peel 20 ml LG 1 , chicory 15 ml LG 1 and pineapple skin 20 ml LG 1 ). Result: The results showed that the Lokananta variety has a plant height of 3-7 weeks after planting, wet weight of the bulb and dry weight of bulb higher compared to Sanren F1. The treatment without eco enzyme (control), chicory and orange peel eco enzymes produced a wet weight of shoot, bulb wet weight and bulb dry weight higher compared to pineapple skin eco enzyme. The interaction between Lokananta variety with eco enzyme chicory orange peel and control resulted in bulb wet weight and bulb dry weight higher compared to pineapple skin treatment. Conclusion: The use of eco-enzyme chicory in Lokananta increased bulb dry weight by 20.47% compared to control. In the Sanren variety, the application of eco-enzyme chicory orange peel and pineapple skin reduced the bulb dry weight by, respectively 18.41, 37.78 and 26.29%.
