The Role of Collaborative Service Robots in the Implementation of Industry 4.0

Abstract: The implementation of the fourth industrial revolution Industry 4.0 is based on the following technologies: internet of tings , cloud computing, big data, robotics & automation, intelligent sensors, 3D printers and radio frequency identification-RFID. The robotics is considered as the core technology. Second-generation industrial robotscollaborative robots have been implemented in the last two years. Their implementation is increasing every year and has reached about 3% of the total application of industrial r… Show more

“…To this day, industrial robots have been continuously installed in the automation of automotive production processes, and the trend is increasing each year. Figure 3 shows the trend of industrial robot application in the world and the application in the automotive industry in the past ten years [9,[13][14][15][16][17][18]. The statistical data are taken from the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).…”

“…The integration of digital technologies with other advanced technologies will transform manufacturing processes in industrial production because the price of these technologies is continuously declining in the market and they are becoming more widespread in production processes. The second reason is that ICT technologies are implemented with other technologies and enable digital transformation of production process [6][7][8][9][10]. When it comes to transforming production processes in the automotive industry, it is impossible to imagine the process without the inclusion of robotics, and networked digital, sensor and information technology.…”

“…Autonomous robots have become irreplaceable in a variety of industrial domains in the last decades, especially with the rapid developments in Industry 4.0 practices. [1][2][3] In addition to industrial applications, robots are getting more active into daily life activities. To tackle different tasks in complex environments such as delivering parcels in natural urban environments, [4] assisting elder care, [5] or managing the household, [6] autonomous robots must interact with humans.…”
