Abstract:This review is devoted to a discussion of the dual role of connexin intercellular structures and gap junction (GJ) in normal and cerebral ischemia. The review describes the structure and form of connexin structures such as gap junctions and hemichannels. It is shown that the properties of connexin structures depend on the connexins. We describe a substance that can be transported through connexin structure. The data on the possible increase in the number of GJ after ischemia/cerebral hypoxia. A hypothesis abou… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
