The Role of Dexmedetomidine for the Prevention of Acute Kidney Injury in Critical Care

Abstract: Acute kidney injury (AKI) occurs in up to 50% of patients admitted to the intensive care unit and is associated with increased mortality. Currently, there is no effective pharmacotherapy for prevention or treatment of AKI.
