The Role of Electrosurgery in the Management of Orthodontic Treatment-Induced Inflammatory Gingival Enlargement: A Report of Three Cases

Abstract

Orthodontic treatment, while beneficial for correcting dental alignment and improving oral health, can sometimes lead to complications such as inflammatory gingival enlargement (IGE). This condition, characterised by the overgrowth of gingival tissues, can cause discomfort and aesthetic concerns and impede oral hygiene, potentially leading to further periodontal issues. Electrosurgery has emerged as an effective treatment modality for managing this condition. This report examines the use of electrosurgery in three cases of orthodontic treatment-induced IGE, highlighting its efficacy, advantages and outcomes.
